Airtel guys have laid their cable in my area again but this time it is kept open in a pole where Jio and other broadband have their "OLT box" (or whatever it is called). So, I suppose they are going to start their services here soon. 🤔
By OLT box are you referring to the black color cylindrical shaped box?

OLT means optical line terminal and it is located near the tower for national telecom ISPs and at LCOs place for local fiber ISPs. So it can not be OLT.

If you are referring to the below video like device, it's called S1 on JioFiber and S2 is the FAT box. I don't know what Airtel people call it.

Oh, yeah FAT box. I forgot what it is called and wrote OLT box. 😂

Airtel has been doing work in patches, as I said previously.

Update:

Airtel is working on expanding its Fiber network across different cities.

I wanted to book xstream fiber connection but the last availability is approx 2-3 kms away from my home. They said it will come but didn’t give any timeline.

Even though you might have got to know this today, this is not a new update. When this thread started, I shared this update way back last year.

2-3 kms is still much far and some delay in expansion is understandable. Here my house is 500-700 meters far from the last FAT box and like @TheAndroidFreak said they are doing work in patches. Currently, my city's expansion is in pause mode. They expanded rapidly last year and now stopped the work from last two months.

Doing a work for two months, stopping for four months and then again expanding.

I was said by their sales team that my area will be covered within a few days (when the work was going on) but it's been two months now since their work has been stopped here. Their words can not be guaranteed either because it's the LCO and Airtel who collectively takes decisions of expansion.

Here is the latest status on my previously shared Airtel Fiber expansion in my city.

Finally, Airtel has begun wiring and installing FAT boxes in my locality. 🙂 Now the nearest FAT box is approximately 500 to 700 meters from my home. They are also promoting their newly launched service with 'Airtel Xstream Fiber now available in your area' posters throughout the area.

If it was 500 mts for me, the guy who i spoke to from Airtel CC was ready to provide OFC services. He was like "if the distance was lesser and was a few mts, we could have provided you a connection."

While I don't want to disappoint you, it's not in their hands. They say such things to make users understand.

Finally got Airtel fiber line installed yesterday in my area, hope it gets activated by Monday, they will deliver Router & STB after that. As of now I will reduce Jio fiber plan to 30 mbps.

I checked with an Airtel salesperson and with the LCO that it shouldn't take long for the service to reach my street :)

Update #3:

After delaying fiber expansion for many months, finally Airtel Fiber cabling has been done in my street today. The LCO said Airtel team will come after 5-6 days for the FAT box installation. Then optical power checking will be done by another team and site will be marked live for new connections. He was aiming that our locality will be live for fiber between 25th to 30th March. 🙂
