For such cases, as a precautionary measure, you can keep a photo of the sales person who book your connection along with their their ID card photo. In case they don't cooperate after payment, you can complain to Airtel with their details.
It is also very important to pay to Airtel directly via link or QR. Some sales person ask payment on their own number to book the connection. If someone asks you to do that, consider that as fraud.
