Google launched the Chromecast with Google TV HD in September 2022, which runs on the Android 12 operating system out of the box. The company promised to upgrade the Chromecast with Google TV 4K model to Android 12. Now, Google has started rolling out a firmware upgrade to the Chromecast with Google TV 4K, which bumps the Android TV OS version from Android 10 to Android 12.
According to 9to5Google, the firmware upgrade build number is STTE.220621.019.A2.9082754 and comes in a 722MB download size. The security patch level has been updated from May 2022 to July 2022. Android 12 brings privacy enhancements with camera and microphone toggles that allow users to enable or disable camera and microphone access for all apps. Further, the update brings additional settings that let users control HDR format and surround sound.
To download the update, click on the profile picture in the top-right corner and select Settings. Then, choose System, About page, and click System update. If the firmware upgrade is available, it will start downloading it.
