Apple has launched the new iPad Pro with Apple M2 chipset on Tuesday. The iPad Pro comes in 11-inch and 12.9-inch variants and runs on iPadOS 16 out of the box. Further, it features Wi-Fi 6E technology, optional 5G connectivity, Thunderbolt, Face-ID, quad speakers, and can detect Apple Pencil hovering up to 12 mm above the display.
Apple iPad Pro specifications
The Apple iPad Pro comes in 11-inch and 12.9-inch display sizes. The 11-inch iPad Pro features a Liquid Retina LED display with a 2388 x 1668 resolution, P3 Color Gamut, up to 120Hz refresh rate with ProMotion, and up to 600 nits of peak brightness. In contrast, the 12.9-inch variant features a Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED display with a 2732 x 2048 resolution with 264PPI, up to 120Hz refresh rate with ProMotion, up to 1000 nits of peak brightness in ordinary usage, and up to 1600 nits of brightness while playing HDR content.
Both models support True Tone functionality and can detect Apple Pencil hovering over up to 12mm of screen surfaces. The Apple iPad Pro is powered by an octa-core Apple M2 chipset that includes 4 performance cores, 4 efficiency cores, 10-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine. According to Apple, the M2 SoC can deliver up to 15 percent faster performance than the previous-gen SoC, while the 10-core GPU delivers up to 35 percent improved graphics performance.
Apple iPad Pro sports a dual rear camera setup of a 12-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 10-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with an f/2.4 aperture. For taking selfies and making video calls, it has a 12-megapixel camera on the front with an f/2.4 aperture lens. The 11-inch variant packs a 28.65Wh battery, while the 12.9-inch is equipped with a 40.88Wh battery.
Connectivity options include tri-band Wi‑Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS/ A-GPS, optional 5G connectivity, and a USB Type-C port that supports up to 6K resolution external display and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity. Sensors include an accelerometer, FaceID, LiDAR Scanner, magnetometer, ambient light, barometer, and a three-axis gyroscope. The 11-inch variant measures 247.6x 178.5x 5.9 mm and weighs up to 470 grams, while the 12.9-inch model measures 280.6 x 214.9 x 5.9 mm and weighs up to 685 grams.
Pricing and availability
The Apple iPad Pro 11-inch Wi-Fi variant price starts at Rs. 81,900, while the Wi-Fi + Cellular model starts at Rs. 96,900. On the other hand, the iPad Pro 12.9-inch Wi-Fi-only variant starts at Rs. 1,12,900 and Rs. 1,27,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. It comes in Space Grey and Silver color options and is available for pre-order in India via the Apple online store. It will go on sale in the country starting October 26, 2022.
The Apple Pencil 2nd Generation costs Rs. 11,900, and the company has also introduced new accessories for the iPad Pro, including Magic Keyboard, Smart Folio, and Smart Keyboard Folio.
