Amazon Fire TV adds live TV support in the home screen which may aggregate live TV channels from various OTT providers like Voot, Zee5, etc. Currently, live TV channels from Network 18 and Viacom18 which are offered on Voot are available on the home screen. A channel guide is also added for providing the programming details and allows users to set favorite channels.
The channels are which are behind the paywall still needs OTT specific subscription. News channels from Network18 which are available for free on Voot are accessible for all users provided they have Voot installed on the device. Viacom18 channels like Colors that are behind the paywall are only accessible to Voot Select subscribers.
Major broadcasters like Zee and Sony are also providing live TV channels on their respective apps Zee5 and Sony LIV for their subscribers. Live TV channels from these streamers may be aggregated shortly. Currently, Star India remains the only broadcaster whose channels aren’t available on its streamer Disney+ Hotstar.
Alexa Voice Remote Lite which is included with Fire TV Stick Lite has a dedicated button for a channel guide. In other news, Amazon started to roll out the new option for users to have child profiles.
