Downloading videos from YouTube on mobile devices is pretty easy, but there is no simple way to do so on computers, you always have to rely on third-party tools. Now, Google has started testing an official way to download videos from YouTube web.
The latest feature, first spotted by Android Police readers in India and France, is currently available as an experimental feature for Premium subscribers. This feature is supported only in computers with the latest versions of Chrome, Edge, or Opera browsers and allows users to download videos in up to 1080p maximum resolution.
If you are eligible for this testing, you can enable the downloading videos from the web feature by first going to the YouTube Labs page (http://youtube.com/new), then find “Download videos from your browser” and tap on ‘try it out’. Once opted-in, you will get a download button on eligible videos.
This experimental testing will be available only till October 19th 2021 for premium users, however, YouTube may extend this date or decide to roll out this feature after some time. To play downloaded videos, you can navigate to youtube.com/feed/downloads or open the downloads section from the side navigation panel.
