The merger of the two popular streaming platforms, Voot and JioCinema, is closer to completion. Voot contents and services have already been integrated with JioCinema, and users who try to access the Voot website and the Voot Lite app are now being redirected to JioCinema. Furthermore, the Voot app on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store is no longer available for download.
The redirecting of the Voot website and Voot Lite app to JioCinema indicates that the merger is in its final stages. When a user tries to open the Voot.com website, it automatically redirects to JioCinema.com. The Voot Lite app also shows similar behavior and redirects to JioCinema. Additionally, the Voot app is no longer available, as the company has removed the app from Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Users who want to watch Voot content will now have to download the JioCinema app.
The company is also giving a promo code for JioCinema Premium to users who subscribed to Voot Select. To recall, Voot Select was a service that offered access to premium movies and TV shows. Voot users can transfer their profile to JioCinema and continue watching their favorite shows on the platform. All the premium and original Voot movies and TV shows, including Asur, Marzi, Bigg Boss, and Apaharan 2, are now available to access on JioCinema.
For the unaware, the JioCinema Premium subscription, launched in May 2023, costs Rs. 999 per year. JioCinema also inked deals with Warner Bros. and NBCUniversal to expand its portfolio of Hollywood content. The streaming service now provides access to exclusive Hollywood movies and TV shows, including Game of Thrones, The Last of Us, Recreation, The Office, and Succession. Moreover, Jio Cinema also secured digital rights to stream IPL for five years.
