The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) on Friday granted interim relief to Vodafone Idea setting aside the telecom watchdog’s order blocking Vodafone Idea’s REDX premium tariff plan.
The tribunal setting aside the direction noted that the directive suspending REDX plan lacked primia facie reasons adding that TRAI’s justification that the suspension of REDX would lead to a detailed examination of REDX offer was devoid of any merit. VIL can now continue to onboard new customers onto its REDX plan after the tribunal’s order.
Vodafone REDX is reported to have on boarded 127,000 subscribers onto its REDX plan. Vodafone Idea stated that the plan was in play since November 2019 but TRAI hadn’t raised any objection since then. The telecom operator alleged that the blocking was done in haste after Reliance Jio lodged its complaint against the plan with TRAI.
The regulator can however look into the REDX plan with TDSAT leaving things open for that. The suspension however has been put on hold with the next hearing on 18th August.
