STL yesterday announced the launch of the Accellus solution for 5G-ready, open and programmable networks. The new product line enhances STL’s position in the Access and Edge networks industry as a disruptive solution provider. STL in the last five years has expanded its capabilities in converged networks based on optical fibre broadband and Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN).
STL’s Accellus is built on converged optical-radio architecture with STL expecting global adoption of the solution to accelerate at a rate of 250% YoY. This will drive better TCO for customers and gross margin for the shareholders of STL.
STL’s Accellus will enable four core benefits for network creators – scalable and agile operations, lower TCO, faster time-to-market, and greener networks. The product as per STL will lead the industry’s transition from tightly integrated, proprietary products to vendor-neutral and programmable converged wireless and fiber network solutions.
Aceellus will offer wireless and fiber based converged solutions namely 5G multi-band radios, indoor small cells, Wi-Fi 6 Access Solutions, RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC), Programmable FTTx (pFTTx). The product includes a comprehensive Open RAN radio portfolio developed with single and multi-band macro radios co-developed in partnership with Facebook Connectivity to build general availability for Open RAN based radios.
Philip Laidler, Partner and Consulting Director, STL Partners, said, “One of the goals of O-RAN alliance was to broaden the RAN ecosystem and encourage innovation from a wider base of technology firms globally. STL’s recent announcement is the latest indication that this goal is being met.”
It also offers O-RAN compliant and highly power-efficient indoor 5G small cell solution with level 1 processing at the edge, outdoor Wi-Fi 6 radio solutions providing carrier-class public connectivity in dense environments, an operating system for Open RAN 5G allowing Open RAN ecosystem to use third-party apps for operational improvement and cost-savings. Accellus also offers programmability and softwar.e-defined networking to large scale FTTH, business, and cell site (FTTx) networks.
“Disaggregated 5G and FTTx networks based on open standards are increasingly prevalent for both greenfield & brownfield rollouts. These networks will require unprecedented scalability & agility, possible through an open and programmable architecture. STL’s Accellus will unlock business opportunities for our customers and deliver immersive digital experiences globally.”
