The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) yesterday re-allocated wireline-series level 37 to Reliance Communications in Delhi NCR. The reallocation came after Reliance Communications wrote to DoT requesting for re-allocation citing inadvertent error that led to the withdrawal of the wireline-series level by DoT.
Reliance Communications had in September 2020 notified by the closure of Level ‘3’ fixed line series in LSAs Orissa, UPE, Madya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, UPW and Haryana effective 5th October 2020. DoT had told Reliance Communications to ensure that all conditions specified under the respective license related to discontinuation of services to be followed.
DoT had earlier in July 2018 withdrawn levels ’31’ and level ’32’ in all LSAs and in September 2017 withdrawn level ’35’ and ’36’ in all LSAs and level ’37’ was withdrawn in J&K, HP, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, UP, MP, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Kolkata, Delhi and UP (East) circles.
RCOM had told DoT that it would discontinue providing ’31’, ’32’, ’35’, ’36’, 37 (except Tamil Nadu) in all LSAs and level ‘3’ fixed-line series in LSAs Orissa, UPE, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, UPW, and Haryana. DoT had accordingly withdrawn and taken on record the discontinuation.
RCOM on 15th February 2021 wrote to DoT requesting it allow it to use level 37 in NCR area of Noida/Ghaziabad and Gurgaon/Faridabad as it is serving wireline enterprise customers using the level 37. RCOM accepted that it made an inadvertent error while communicating to DoT where they missed out specifically mentioning usage of 37 in Delhi NCR (adjoining areas of UPW and Haryana circles).
“Keeping in view of existing wireline enterprise customers in Noida/Ghaziabad and Gurgaon/Faridabad using the level ’37’ of M/s RCOM, it is stated that level 37′ is re allocated to M/s RCOM in Delhi NCR area of Noida/Ghaziabad and Gurgaon/Faridabad SDCAs only,” said DoT in a circular.
