Microsoft has released Edge version 111 for desktop users on the stable channel. It comes with new features and improvements, including the addition of the Edge Copilot, a feature that integrates Bing AI-powered chat and content creation into the browser. Microsoft Edge version 111 also includes an enhanced sidebar visibility feature that auto-hides the Edge Sidebar to increase the valuable screen space.

Edge Copilot is accessible from a new Bing icon at the top left corner of the browser, which opens a sidebar with three tabs: Chat, Compose, and Insights. The Chat tab lets users interact with a chatbot powered by Bing AI that understands natural language and generate fluent responses. Users can also ask complex questions to the chatbot and get instant answers.

The Compose tab helps users to write better emails, blogs, paragraphs, and more using Bing’s generative text features. Users can ask for suggestions to improve their writing style, including tone, grammar, and spelling. The Insights tab provides users with relevant information and data from Bing about the current webpage.

Further, Microsoft Edge version 111 comes with an enhanced sidebar visibility feature that auto-hides the Edge Sidebar when a user is not using it and reappears when a user hovers over the new Bing icon.

Besides Edge Copilot, Microsoft Edge version 111 also brings some other improvements, such as:

  • Microsoft Feed on Microsoft 365 Edge New Tab Page: Microsoft is rolling out a new experience to the Microsoft 365 tab of the Edge Enterprise New Tab Page.
  • Enhanced security mode improvements: This mode now supports WebAssembly for macOS x64 and Linux x64.
  • New policy to clear IE mode data on browser exit: This policy controls whether browsing history is deleted from Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer mode every time the browser is closed.

Microsoft Edge version 111 is available for download through the Microsoft website. Users can also update by going to Settings and selecting About Microsoft Edge. To use Edge Copilot, users need a Microsoft account with access to the new Microsoft Bing.
