After days of teasing, LG on Wednesday announced a debut for LG Wing and Velvet series smartphones in India. LG Wing 5G is the company’s first foldable smartphone that swivels into T-shape, it was made official for the global markets in September. LG Velvet, on the other hand, was unveiled in May this year with 5G support and Snapdragon 765G SoC but in India, the company launched it’s a slightly modified version with Snapdragon 845 processor that does not support 5G connectivity.
LG Wing 5G Specifications
LG Wing 5G is a dual-screen phone with a unique swivel design that can rotate the primary screen 90-degrees clockwise revealing a smaller secondary screen. The main display features a 6.8-inch full HD+ P-OLED full vision panel with 2,460 x 1,080 pixels resolution, 20.5:9 screen ratio and under it, there is a 3.9-inch G-OLED secondary screen offering FHD+ resolution and a 1:1.15 aspect ratio. The primary display is integrated with a fingerprint sensor.
In Swivel mode with primary display rotated to landscape mode, the users can multitask easily such as watch videos on primary screen and interact with the secondary display. LG has also partnered with Youtube and Tubi platforms so that Wing smartphone users can play video on the main screen while the second screen can display comments or search bar.
The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 765G 5G SoC coupled with Adreno 620 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 128GB internal storage that can be further expandable via microSD card up to 2TB. It runs LG UX based on Android 10.
It features a triple-camera setup with a 64MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 117-degree field of view (FOV) and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and a 12MP ultra-wide Gimbal mode camera with a 120-degree view. For selfies, there is a 32-megapixel pop-up camera.
It is having a 4,000mAh battery and supports 25W fast charging support and 10W wireless charging. Connectivity options include 5G SA/ NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, NFC, and USB-C.
LG Velvet Specifications
LG Velvet 4G Edition comes with a 6.8-inch P-OLED FHD+ display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, 20.5:9 aspect ratio, waterdrop notch and an in-screen fingerprint reader. It is equipped with an older Qualcomm Snapdragon 854 processor along with Adreno 630 GPU and has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 2TB.
On the rear side, it has a triple camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens with 120-degree FOV, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The front-facing camera is a 16-megapixel shooter.
The handset is fueled by 4,300mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging through USB-C and 9W wireless charging. It runs on LG UX based on Android 10 and supports Wacom stylus along with LG Dual Screen accessory. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and 3.5mm audio jack.
Pricing and availability
LG Wing 5G is priced at Rs. 69,990 for the base 128GB storage variant in India. It will go on sale from November 9 in 2 colour options- Aurora Gray and Illusion Sky.
The LG Velvet price in India starts at Rs. 36,990 and the LG Velvet Dual Screen combo will be sold for Rs. 49,990. It will be available in Aurora Silver, and New Black colour options and the sale begins on October 30.
