JioMotive plug-and-play 4G GPS tracker for vehicles; Here’s how to set up

Earlier this month, Reliance Jio launched a new plug-and-play 4G GPS tracker for vehicles called JioMotive. JioMotive plugs into the vehicle’s OBD and provides real-time vehicle tracking. It also comes with a WiFi hotspot feature that allows users to connect up to eight devices simultaneously. Moreover, JioMotive offers anti-theft, geo-fencing, and speed tracking features. Here are the details.

JioMotive features

JioMotive is a 4G device that plugs into the vehicle’s OBD (on-board diagnostics) port, which is usually located under the steering wheel. According to the company, users can easily self-install the JioMotive device and do not require a technician or a garage visit. The company also provides an easy guide to help with the installation process.

JioMotive comes with a real-time vehicle tracker that allows users to check their vehicle’s health and sends alerts for various actions, including driving performance, anti-theft, geo-fencing, and more. The device also comes with a 4G-based WiFi hotspot that can connect up to eight devices.

To manage the JioMotive device or receive alerts, users need to install the JioThings app from the Play Store or Apple App Store. The JioMotive device works only with a Jio SIM card. Existing Jio users are not required to buy a separate Jio SIM as they can use their existing Jio smartphone plan with JioMotive.

How to set up the JioMotive device

To set up the JioMotive device, users need to download and install the JioThings app on their smartphone via Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Then, they will have to log in to the app using their Jio number and add the JioMotive device to the list of devices by tapping the + icon. After that, users can add the JioMotive device’s IMEI number and select Proceed. Next, they will have to enter their vehicle’s details, such as number, registration date, model, etc.

The next step requires connecting the JioMotive to the car’s OBD port and turning on the car. Then, agree to the T&C of JioEverywhereConnect Number Sharing Plan and click Enable. Lastly, click on JioJCR1440 and Proceed to the next step. If everything is set up correctly, the app will show a confirmatory message when the device is connected.

Pricing and availability

The JioMotive device is priced at Rs. 4,999 and is available to purchase from the Reliance Digital store. The device comes with a one-year warranty, and users will also get a complimentary one-year subscription. Post one year, the subscription fee will cost Rs. 599 per year.
