Google’s About this result feature launched earlier this year is now available in India for Google Search users. The feature can be accessed by Google India since yesterday morning even though the company hasn’t announced the feature expansion to India. The feature allows Google Search users to learn more about the search results in a quick way.
Starting yesterday, most results on Google in India show a menu icon wherein one can tap the same to get additional context about the specific search result and where the information is coming from. The context provided by Google about the search result can help one make an informed decision about the sites they may want to visit.
The feature normally shows a description from Wikipedia to provide verified and sourced information available about the site. IIf the site’s hasn’t been heard of before, the additional information can offer context to those visiting it especially when it comes to health or financial information. Whenever the website doesn’t have a Wikipedia description, Google shows additional context such as when Google first indexed the site.
The feature was earlier this year launched in the U.S. on desktop, mobile web and the Google App on Android. The beta is now available in India since yesterday on mobile web, desktop, and the Google App on Android.
