Google, on Monday, has launched the Google Pixel 4A smartphone. The phone is a successor to the last year launched Pixel 3A smartphone. Pixel 4A has a polycarbonate unibody with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 front glass, and also includes stereo speakers and two microphones with noise suppression support. The search giant has also announced Google Pixel 5 and Google Pixel 4A 5G smartphones.
Google Pixel 4A specifications
Google Pixel 4A features a 5.81-inch Full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) OLED Always-on display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and HDR support. The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chipset paired with Adreno 618 GPU, 6GB LPDDR4x RAM, and 128GB storage. It runs Android 10 OS out of the box.
Pixel 4A comes with a single rear camera setup of 12.2 MP f/1.7 camera with a 77-degree field of view and supports auto-focus with dual-pixel phase detection. The camera also has optical as well as electronic image stabilization. The rear camera supports 1080p video recording at 30/60/120fps, 720p recording at 30/60/240fps, and 4K recording at 30fps. On the front, the phone has an 8 MP f/2.0 camera on the hole-punch display with an 84-degree field of view.
Sensors included are proximity, ambient light, accelerometer, gyroscope, electronic compass, barometer, and rear-mounted fingerprint reader. Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Buetooth 5.0 + LE, A2DP with AptX, AptX HD, LDAC, AAC support, NFC, GPS/ GLONASS/ Galileo/ QZSS/ BeiDou, 4G LTE with single nano SIM or eSIM, 3.5mm audio jack, USN Type-C 3.1 Gen 1 port.
Google Pixel 4A comes with a non-removable 3140mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging technology. The phone measures 144 x 69.4 x 8.2 mm and weighs 143 grams.
Pricing and availability
Google Pixel 4A price starts at $349 (around Rs. 26,300) for the single 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The phone is currently available for pre-order in the US via the Google Store and comes in a single Just Black color option. It will be available for purchase via online and offline retail stores in the US, starting August 20. In India, the Pixel 4A will be available to purchase via Flipkart in October.
Google announces Pixel 5 and Pixel 4A 5G
Apart from the Google Pixel 4A, the company has also announced the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4A 5G smartphones. Google Pixel 4A 5G model will cost $499, which is around Rs. 37,500. Google has said that the Pixel 5A with 5G support is “coming this fall” and both devices will be available for purchase in the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Taiwan, and France. The company will share more details about the devices and availability in the coming months.
