E-Commerce companies Flipkart, Amazon, Big Basket, Grofers among others were affected by restrictions imposed around the country to contain the spread of COVID-19. Many e-commerce companies had to temporarily stop their operations due to a lack of cooperation from state administrations.
Flipkart, Amazon, and others had to temporarily stop their operations yesterday. Flipkart announced a suspension of services for a time period of 21 days. Amazon, on the other hand, announced that it would deliver essential services only for 21 days. Others like Grofers and BigBasket had to suspend operations temporarily with local authorities not cooperating.
NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant had to step in to ensure e-commerce deliveries of essential services are not affected due to any action from the local authorities. Kant came to the rescue with the required action being taken to resolve the supply chain issue.
Flipkart, Amazon, Grofers, Big Basket, MilkBasket and others have now restarted restricted services with only essential services being delivered. Their service is however currently limited to cities wherein the local authorities are cooperating and ensuring their supply chain is smooth.
Gurgaon Police Commissioner had yesterday declared that e-commerce services would not be affected. Some state governments sprung into action swiftly to removed roadblocks. Services, however, have not been resumed wherever companies have not been able to meet with the authorities.
