Amazon India has revised the pricing and benefits of its Prime Lite subscription plan, introduced just six months ago in June 2023. The e-commerce giant aims to make the plan more attractive and affordable for a wider user base.
Initially launched at Rs 999, the Prime Lite plan now stands at a more competitive Rs 799, marking a noteworthy Rs 200 price drop. This adjustment places the Lite plan as a more budget-friendly alternative within Amazon’s array of Prime memberships.
The modifications extend beyond mere pricing adjustments, as Amazon has also fine-tuned the benefits offered under the Prime Lite subscription. Previously, the plan featured free two-day delivery as its primary perk. However, the revised plan now boasts an expanded delivery spectrum, including One-Day Delivery, Two-Day Delivery, Scheduled Delivery, and Same-Day Delivery.
While the Lite plan retains certain key benefits, such as morning delivery at Rs 175 per item, no-cost EMI, and a 6-month free screen replacement, it does come with trade-offs in the entertainment department. Prime Lite members will not have access to Prime Music, Prime Gaming, or Prime Reading. Moreover, Prime Video is limited to HD quality, and the membership now supports only one device instead of two, differentiating it from the more comprehensive benefits offered by the standard Prime membership.
Prime Lite subscribers, however, can still avail themselves of a 5% cashback on purchases made on the Amazon India website using an Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card. Yet, in comparison to the regular Prime membership, the Lite plan lacks certain features, including unlimited Prime Video device support, and 4K resolution support.
Amazon’s regular Prime memberships are structured around three durations- monthly, quarterly, and yearly. The prices for these plans have remained unchanged. Users can opt for a 1-month subscription at Rs 299, a 3-month plan at Rs 599, or a yearly membership priced at Rs 1,499.
