DoT revises tariff of bandwidth created under CANI project

Tariff of bandwidth produced under CANI project revised by DoT after due process.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) recently revised the tariff of bandwidth created under submarine optical fibre cable connectivity between Chennai and Andaman & Nicobar Islands (CANI project).

In July 2020, the Department had notified the introductory tariff of bandwidth under Chennai-Andaman & Nicobar Islands submarine optical fibre cable connectivity (CANI project). The Telecom Department last year constituted a committee for recommending a revised tariff for bandwidth created under the CANI project keeping into consideration the various representations received from various DoT licensees.

The committee submitted its recommendations on the matter to DoT on 9th November 2021. The Department after accepting the recommendations of the committee approved the revised tariff for CANI submarine OFC cable on 20th May 2022. The revised tariff will be applied prospectively and shall be applicable till further orders.
