Do you get any error message, or it just takes you to the subscription page?
If it takes you to the subscription page, you need to fill all the details including payment option and then proceed.
If you've already accessed YouTube trial, it may not work for you.

You can cancel anytime. Just cancel subscription before trial expires.
I think you can also use google play balance to activate the trial. You need to have at least Rs. 130 Google Play balance.
