Tonight's WWE SmackDown opens with Randy Orton, Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan backstage. Shane has a TV screen and shows us the RKO outta nowhere to Brock Lesnar on RAW. Shane says it was awesome but there will be repercussions later. Shane and Bryan have a bunch of security and Orton asks if it's necessary. Orton ends up leaving and Shane sends half of the crew behind him and tells the other half not to let Lesnar into the building if he tries tonight. Shane and Bryan bump into Maryse and WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz next. Bryan makes Apollo Crews vs. Kalisto vs. Baron Corbin for tonight with the winner facing Miz at SummerSlam. WWE Champion Dean Ambrose walks up next.

Ambrose says he's headed to the ring to address the #1 contender. We go to the SmackDown intro video and come back to Mauro Ranallo, David Otunga and JBL on commentary. Greg Hamilton introduces the WWE Champion and out he comes to a pop.

Ambrose talks about getting to where he's at now and says he likes the view at the top. It's all about staying there. Ambrose likes leading the blue brand and says he's here to stay. Which brings us to SummerSlam and Dolph Ziggler, the Show Off, Mr. Booty Shaker. This brings Ziggler to the ring. Ziggler takes a mic and says he's a big fan of Ambrose, the two are actually similar. Ambrose says they're not, they're nothing alike. Ambrose says Ziggler is all show and he's all go. They trade promos. Ambrose says yea, Ziggler will steal the show at SummerSlam and they will have a good match. But Ambrose will do what he does and he's a winner. Ambrose says Ziggler will steal the show but he's going to lose. Ziggler fires back and cuts a passionate promo, saying he's going to burn Brooklyn down and take the title from Ambrose at SummerSlam. Ambrose says no he's not, and it's not because of any conspiracy theory or anyone holding Ziggler down. Ambrose says Dolph will find out his real problem - he's not as good as he thinks he is. Ambrose drops the mic and leaves as Ziggler looks down.

- The Wyatt Family graphic flashes and Bray Wyatt is in the ring. He lays Ziggler out with Sister Abigail. Wyatt says Ziggler doesn't deserve the power of calling himself a champion. Wyatt asks the fans if they really believe Ziggler is our next WWE Champion. Some don't. Wyatt says Ziggler stole something from him and he wants it back. Wyatt makes a challenge - face him tonight and if he wins, he proves he's worthy of being the #1 contender. If Ziggler loses, Wyatt will replace him at SummerSlam as the #1 contender to Ambrose. Wyatt dares Ziggler to prove he really is that damn good. Fans chant "yes!" and Wyatt tells us to follow the buzzards.

- Still to come, AJ Styles has a message for John Cena. Also, American Alpha debuts. Up next, a Triple Threat to determine The Miz's next challenger. Back to commercial.

- Back from the break and the bosses are checking with security for Lesnar. Ziggler approaches and he's fired up. Ziggler wants the match with Wyatt and Bryan makes it for tonight.

#1 Contender Triple Threat: Kalisto vs. Baron Corbin vs. Apollo Crews

We go to the ring and out first comes Kalisto. We see Maryse and WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz at ringside for commentary. The winner of this match will face Miz at SummerSlam. Baron Corbin is out next, followed by Apollo Crews.

Corbin with big shots early on. Kalisto gets a 2 count on Crews after Corbin is dumped to the floor. More action with Kalisto taking Corbin down on the floor and going back to stand tall as we go to commercial.

Back from the break for more back and forth. Corbin points at Miz before stomping away on Kalisto. Corbin with shots to Crews as well. Corbin catches Kalisto in mid-air but Crews dropkicks them both over the top. Crews rolls Kalisto up for the win.

Winner and New #1 Contender: Apollo Crews

- After the match, Corbin attacks Kalisto until Crews comes back in for the save. The Miz runs in and nails Crews with the Skull Crushing Finale. Corbin takes out Miz and stands tall to end the segment.

- Still to come, Eva Marie vs. Becky Lynch. Back to commercial.

Eva Marie vs. Becky Lynch

Back from the break and out comes Becky Lynch. Eva Marie is out next as we hear the voice-over praising her.

The bell rings and Eva immediately acts like she has a leg injury. The referee calls for a trainer to come out. The match is called off because Eva can't compete. Eva limps down the steps and is helped to the back by a trainer and referee.

- We go to Renee Young and Carmella at the SmackLive table. Carmella doesn't trust Eva's injury and calls her a Kardashian wannabe. Natalya appears and isn't happy about Carmella being interviewed instead of her. They have words and it sounds like we have a match for later.

- Still to come, American Alpha debuts. Back to commercial.

The Vaudevillains vs. American Alpha

Back from the break and Aiden English is posing in the ring with partner Simon Gotch. Chad Gable and Jason Jordan are out next to a big pop.

Gable starts off with Gotch and they trade holds. Gable gets the upperhand and in comes Jordan. Gotch nails a knee and tags in English. Jordan blocks a double team and tags in Gable. Gable comes off the top with a double clothesline. American Alpha hits dropkicks and gets riled up for the fans. The Vaudevillains turn it around and work Gable over in their corner.

Jordan finally gets the tag and unloads with suplexes on both opponents. American Alpha gets the win after the double team.

Winners: American Alpha

- After the match, Gable and Jordan celebrate as we go to replays.

- Still to come, AJ has a message for Cena. Back to commercial.

- Back from the break and out comes AJ Styles. He's not in the mood and demands the music to be cut. He's here for one reason, John Cena. AJ is immediately interrupted by the music as out comes Cena to interrupt.

AJ says before he was rudely interrupted, he had a message for the Cenation. The soccer mom chants start up. AJ says he doesn't want Cena here. After beating Cena up and defeating him, he's still here. Styles says Cena doesn't belong in the same ring with him. Fans give him the "what!?" treatment now. AJ says Cena does his song & dance, and people think he's some noble hero but they are weak-minded people. AJ says Nashville has the weakest of minds, trust him he knows. An apparent shot at TNA. AJ starts ripping kids in the crowd, then their parents. Then Cena. Cena eventually fires back and rips into AJ. Cena says he's in WWE because of love. AJ is here to be just a really great wrestler but there is no other place for Cena. Cena gets really fired up and asks why the hell AJ is here. This leads to AJ challenging Cena to a match at SummerSlam. Cena accepts and says he needs to teach AJ's a** a lesson.

Slater says he's the hottest free agent and nothing is bigger right now. Bryan announces that Slater will get a match next Tuesday and if he wins, he gets a contract. His opponent will be... Slater gets taken out. Rhyno appears and that will be the opponent. Bryan calls for a medic to his office.

RE: || Official Thread || WWE SMACKDOWN RESULTS

WWE Signature and we cut to Randy Orton arriving when he is interviewed about his upcoming match with Alberto Del Rio and staying focused on Brock Lesnar. Orton has known the legend of Lesnar for 15 years....but Orton IS the Legend Killer. Lesnar may be all big-and-bad, but one RKO could end it.

On cue, Del Rio comes in and laughs about "Viperville." Orton promises him a VIP tour through Viperville.

Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan come out to start the show.
Bray is here to make something clear: last week, he did not fall to Dolph Ziggler; instead, he was a victim of Ziggler's desperation and deception when his face was ran into the exposed turnbuckle). After that, everything went black.
However, Ziggler does not understand that fact that Bray is a god, and Ziggler can never kill a god. Bray tells Ziggler to ask Dean Ambrose - he knows real well. Bray reminds them both that SmackDown is his show.
Now? It is Bray Wyatt against the whole damn world.

At this moment, Dean Ambrose interrupts and laughs about the idea that Bray is a victim...it really is a new era.

Ambrose reminds Bray that SmackDown belongs to the WWE Universe and him. Bray laughs at this, inviting Ambrose into the ring for the inevitable 2-on-1 beatdown that Ambrose sees coming.

Dolph Ziggler comes out now, walks by Ambrose, and attacks Bray. Needless to say, he is dispatched quickly, causing Ambrose to come in for a save.....until he eats an inadvertent superkick from Ziggler as he was being saved from Sister Abigail. A stunned Ziggler superkicks Rowan before eating Sister Abigail.

Backstage, Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler argue about what just happened. They seem ready to brawl until Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon separate them and tell them to channel their rage as they team up to face Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan.

American Alpha vs Mikey O'Shea & Mike Vega

But wait a minute. The Ascension comes out for some reason.....and so do The Vaudevillains....and The Hype Bros.

Quick squash. American Alpha win.

American Alpha def Those Guys

Afterward, the other tag teams come in and an impromptu battle royal starts with American Alpha standing tall.

Renee Young interviews The Miz and Maryse they tease making out right over the table, but Renee interrupts by starting an Apollo Crews video package.

We get back from the video, and Miz and Maryse are now laying on the table as Renee tries to keep things serious...until Miz compares Maryse to a modern-day Aphrodite before some smooching ensues.
________________________________________

Becky Lynch vs Eva Marie

Yeah.....nope. Instead Eva Marie has a wardrobe malfunction and can't compete...yep

So Eva leaves and the match doesn't start. Becky is interviewed is is pissed, saying that she will fight no matter what. She wants to fight, and she isn't leaving until she does fight.

Who answers the challenge? One Alexa Bliss, who is in a**-kicking mode.

________________________________________

Becky Lynch vs Alexa Bliss

This was a decent one that saw Bliss get the win with Twisted Bliss when Eva Marie recovered from her malfunction enough to make a distraction (and a whole new entrance).

Alexa Bliss def Becky Lynch

After, Eva is interviewed and says that she feels bad that Becky couldn't face her tonight. Never fear, Eva will be ready to go next week.

________________________________________

Randy Orton vs Alberto Del Rio

This kinda happened. Orton won by DQ when Del Rio hit him with a chair.

Randy Orton def Alberto Del Rio by DQ

After, Del Rio hits a couple more chair shots and sets up for more in the ring until RKO.

________________________________________

Backstage, Rhyno is muscling up when Heath Slater comes in and begs Rhyno to let him win tonight. Rhyno reminds him that he won an election in Michigan and has constituents to impress. Heath continues begging to no avail.

________________________________________

Rhyno vs Heath Slater

Slater ALMOST get the win with a cheap, ropy roll-up, but the referee caught it. After unsuccessfully arguing, Slater walked right into a Gore.

Rhyno def Heath Slater.

________________________________________

Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan have a backstage promo. Bray tells Rowan to destroy. Rowan tells us to run.

Backstage, Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon finish getting a contract ready for Heath Slater when Heath comes in, rages, and quits.

________________________________________

Carmella vs Natalya

Before the match, Carmella vows to get revenge on Natalya. Natalya tries to blindside her, but Carmella is ready and takes control early before the bell rings.

This heatless one just sorta happened. In the end, Carmella somehow locked in her leglock sleeper thing for the submission win.

Carmella def Natalya

________________________________________

After a hype video of John Cena vs AJ Styles, we go backstage to Baron Corbin beating up Kalisto for costing him a shot at the Intercontinental Title.

________________________________________

Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose vs Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan

For a match like this, it was about as textbook and predictable as you'd expect. After Ambrose botched a suicide dive, Ziggler superkicked Rowan for the win.

Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose def Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan

After, Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds on Ziggler, and the crowd approves as the show ends.

WWE Smackdown Results – August 23 2016

AJ Styles was in the locker room, telling everyone that after his victory over John Cena that he was now the face of Smackdown. Styles may have taken his gloating a bit too far however, after he poked Dolph Ziggler over his loss to Dean Ambrose Ziggler jumped Styles.

Meanwhile, several Smackdown superstars were in the ring along with two new championship belts. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan announced the new Smackdown Women’s Championship belt, as well as the new Smackdown Tag Team Championship belts which will be handed out to winners at the Backlash event.

1) Becky Lynch defeated Alexa Bliss

2)The Usos defeated The Ascension
Usos progressed to next round of tag team championship tournament

AJ Styles called out Dolph Ziggler
And he also told the audience that they could stop being fans of John Cena, which actually isn’t that difficult. Claiming that Ziggler is jealous of what Styles did at Summerslam, Styles proclaimed that he should be the new number one contender for a shot at Dean Ambrose’s WWE title instead of Ziggler. Naturally livid, Ziggler had to be held back by the refs, while Daniel Bryan issued a simple ultimatum:
Ziggler and Styles would clash on Smackdown, with the winner getting a title shot.

4) Nikki Bella vs. Carmella ended in a No Contest
Renee Young tried to interview Nikki before the match began, but a sneak attack from Carmella killed that match as the refs were called in to separate the two.

Randy Orton was in the ring
And he wasn’t happy with how his match ended at Summerslam: Namely him having a gigantic gaping hole in his head while the ring started to look like a Jackson Pollock painting that used his blood. The lights went out, and Bray Wyatt appeared all of a sudden, mocking Orton for his loss. Claiming that while Orton is a mere mortal, Wyatt exclaimed that he was an immortal god and that Orton would find out more about him in time. The lights blinked again, and then Bray was gone.

Backstage
Orton wasn’t the only person who came off second-best against Lesnar, as Shane McMahon also suffered some damage. And he says the feud between the two of them is far from over.

Heath Slater finally found his tag team partner: Rhyno!

5) American Alpha defeated Breezango
They also progressed to next round of tag team championship tournament

6) AJ Styles defeated Dolph Ziggler
WWE Champ Dean Ambrose joined the commentary team for this bout, as Styles and Ziggler put on one hell of a match. They went outside, they went inside the ring and threw corner splashes, roundhouse kicks and all manner of slams at each other. Nearing the end, Ziggler went for a superkick but AJ blocked it, attempting to lock in a Styles Clash.
Ziggler escaped, dropped Styles with a Zig Zag but only got the two-count, setting him up for another superkick that he dodged once again to successfully counter with Styles Clash. One, two, three and AJ Styles was crowned the new #1 contender for Ambrose’s title as he decided to get into his face at ringside and knock the headset off of him. Walking backstage after a heated moment, Smackdown ended with a victorious AJ Styles smirking on his way back to the locker room.
