OTT market is dominated by Freemium players. In India people feels they are entitled to free content as they have started to pay for wired internet very recently. Jio understood this really well. They saw how Hotstar had huge viewership during IPL when Jio was giving free access to Hotstar. Than Hotstar introduced subscription model. It didn't work out despite low subscription rates which was even being subsidised by telecom operators.Even 0.7 billion Indians have Smartphones doesn't mean everyone will watch sports and other contents with Freemium or Premium
