I never thought i would say this but Sony / Viacom18 needs IPL more than Star! Disney+ Hotstar can survive on it’s own unlike SonyLIV & Voot. India doesn’t really contribute much when it comes to Disney+ ARPU, and it makes sense for Disney to let go of IPL so that they can use those resources on content creation in developed markets where they actually make money. I have encountered many people on Twitter saying that Hotstar survives on IPL which is not really a case. Even if we consider they survive on IPL, India is not really a market for Disney to make big bets.

Viacom (Voot with Rs.299/annum) will require it more than Sony+Zee.

Now I think Reliance will win the race - Both Digital & TV. Foreign rights may go to somebody. I don't know how 'Zee' came inside the list. Zee doesn't have sports cluster. If it means the upcoming merged entity. It should mention 'Sony-Zee' or 'Sony' alone.

This is just an assumption, linear rights are Critical for Zee+Sony while Digital for Hotstar. Viacom 18 may go for all or nothing approch.
