IPL Match Fixing : Sreesanth & 3 More In Police Custody

Three Rajasthan Royals players, Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila, have been taken by police for questioning over an investigation into their alleged involvement in corruption in the IPL. The franchise issued a statement saying that had been "taken by surprise" by the development.

A case has been registered at the Marine Drive police station in Mumbai under sections 420, which deals with cheating, and 120 (b), which deals with criminal conspiracy. The players are in the custody of Delhi police.

"We have been informed that thee of our players have been called in for investigation on spot fixing in matches. We are completely taken by surprise. We do not have the full facts at this point and are unable to confirm anything," Rajasthan Royals said in a statement. "We are in touch with the BCCI on this matter. We will fully cooperate with the authorities to ensure a thorough investigation. The management at Rajasthan Royals has a zero-tolerance approach to anything that is against the spirit of the game."

The Royals played a match on Wednesday night against Mumbai Indians and reports said the players were detained by police after the completion of the game.
