Add two more teams.
Release all players (no retentions, no RTMs) and conduct a Mega auction with equal purse for all 10 teams, so that all 10 franchises can form teams of more or less same strength.
Let the contract be for one year and afterwards follow football like contract signing, no auctions thereafter.
Put a Financial Fair-play Rule in place.

Not really. They don't get the full amount. A certain amount is deducted for the matches they don't play. In this case they didnt play any match, so they are going to lose a lot..

Unless Ganguly whips his will and doesn't allow RTMs + allow only upto 2-3 retentions, with further restrictions on number of capped and foreign players that can be retained...

Not really. If player available for the selection then he will be paid irrespective whether he is in playing xi or not.. This was confirmed by badrinath on the star sports tamil.

RTM and 2-3 retentions are more than enough for them infact any team

If the Same is allowed, then there would be no stopping the likes of Mumbai who can shell out how much ever they can. Do you think BCCI didn't had this happened, see the first 3 IPL editions they have allowed teams to sign Uncapped players as they like, teams took advantage of that. For that only Uncapped players are brought under Auction. If IPL is competitive, having the purse is the only reason otherwise it will be weighing too much towards 2-3 teams who shell out money.

They'll whip him if he acts smart. Unless he agrees to 5 retaining plus 5 RTMs, you think Mumbai will allow the auction to happen? That way all the 10 main players can be got back and we can have Mumbai winning. It'll be fun to watch such IPLs

Also buddy, the previous cycle is ended with this year. So, they cannt even object to BCCI.

All major sports leagues practice and follow contract signing and Financial Fair play. There also there are rich and poor teams.
If some IPL team is poor, they should find investors.
