Did the shot area hurt a lot after taking the vaccine? Did it hurt more than a regular injection?

No, you even can not feel the injection.it is just a 0.5ml dose. I have got both doses without any pain, fever etc.
There will be a little pain in the arm after 1-2 day for few hours.

On the procurement of vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson, Dr V.K. Paul said the government is in touch with these firms through the Department of Biotechnology and the Ministry of External Affairs.

"We asked formally whether they would like to send doses to India, manufacture in India, we will nd partners. They said they will talk about vaccine availability in Q3 (quarter 3). We have intensified this process with Moderna, Pizer and J&J and we hope they will come forward," Paul said. "This is happening at the highest level," he stressed. "We invite (them). They make vaccines here, make it with our companies through technology transfer. Under the new strategy, that channel is open and we will support in every possible way," he said.

"Any vaccine that is approved by US FDA, WHO can come to India. Import license will be granted within 1-2 days. No import license is pending," Dr Paul further said.

But the main issue is that Vaccines of Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson and Johnson require lower storage temperatures. Covishield and Covaxin vials can be stored at 2-8 degree, especially pfizer which needs something about -60` C. Even our cold chains which are plenty in number can hold only around -25' C so pfizer has a major logistics issue.

Sputnik Light is also single dose vaccine and claims to offer 80% efficiency after 28 days.

Cynical me thinks that sputnik has been bought in in order to have a better dealing hand against US pharma, especially pfizer and its cheerleaders in India. Pfizer has been very rough in its negotiations.

And USA admin is still to relax blockages on raw material on novavax by SII. They neatly sidestepped the whole Q. Even BB suffered.

Made-in-India Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin uses Kansas-based ViroVax’s Alhydroxiquim-II adjuvant which boosts immune response and provides longer-lasting immunity.

But according to a new report, the Hyderabad-based company Bharat Biotech, the producer of Covaxin is facing challenges in producing this adjuvant. This unexpected situation could hamper the vaccine maker’s plan to ramp up its capacity for Covaxin from the current 5 million doses each month to 12 million doses per month by July 2021. Bharat Biotech is currently preparing to increase the vaccine production from its Bengaluru-based facility, which was set up to produce vaccines for animals. A senior government official earlier said that the vaccines for animals are not the immediate priority as the company wants to utilise the Bengaluru facility to boost the Covaxin production.

Edit- Since pfizer and others plan to come by 3rd quarter probably Aug-Sept, we will probably have enough vaccines in production by then. They can then be purchased by private hospitals and offered to those who want it.

Pfizer is fully booked till later part of 3rd qrt. of this year with orders from US and EU with its existing capacity.Out of 100 mill. doses ordered by Brazil,they have received just 1.5 million doses till now and they ordered some 3-4 months back.I imagine unless Pfizer ties up with some vaccine manufacturer in india they will have hard time providing anything here.
