BBC Studios owned premium factual programming channel BBC Earth has syndicated its content to Discovery Communication India’s Over the Top (OTT) platform Discovery Plus with its existing titles on SonyLIV being slowly removed. Top shows from BBC Earth have boarded on Discovery Plus Premium as it continues to fade away from SonyLIV.

Planet Earth and Planet Earth II among other BBC Earth documentaries which were earlier placed on SonyLIV have now moved over to Discovery Plus. Around 70-80% of documentaries are said to have been removed from SonyLIV.

The moving of BBC Earth content hints that the joint venture between Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) and BBC Studios could end sooner than later given the content has moved away from SonyLIV.

SonyLIV, however, continues to retain certain part of BBC Earth’s content on its platform including titles which feature Sir Attenborough. It remains to be seen if Sony and BBC Studios pull the plug on their joint venture or not.
