  1. overbidding All bcoz of mess created in past.

in up east niether 900/2100/2300/2500mhz is available to expand 4g frequency

and up east hold 10% of india subscribers base.

jio and airtel find price of 850mhz (200cr) to high compared to 19cr of 1800, even it reaches 40cr would be ok for jio and airtel to maintain top position in up east market.
voda was leader in 3g era, so naturally bidding for expansion .

govt didn’t free up enough spectrum from aircel or other holders

    • Aircel should have surrendered all its non liberalised spectrum to the government. They did that for 6 circles randomly after they shut services but didn’t do it in all circles. Which is why we have to wait for another 2 to 4 years for their spectrum expiring in 2024 and 2026 to be made available for future auctions.

    • Most probably all 3 operators are fighting over it, whichever operator pulls out of the fight will get 0.8 MHz at the second-last round’s price and the one or two operators will get 10 MHz or 5 Mhz each at the final round’s price. DoT will now try its best to free up more spectrum in this band in UP East to put up for sale in the next auction.
