After adding a slew of stickers for payments, the Instant messaging platform WhatsApp has launched a new offer for the promotion of its UPI based payment service WhatsApp Pay under which the company is giving a flat Rs 51 cashback on the first 5 transactions via the app.
The offer is currently available for WhatsApp Beta version 2.21.20.3 users on Android and eligible users will see a banner at the top of the chat window that says “Give cash, get Rs 51 back”.
WhatsApp will credit Rs 51 directly to the linked bank account after each successful transaction. There are no minimum transaction restrictions, users can send as low as Rs 1 to five different contacts and claim Rs 255 cashback.
You can link your bank account with WhatsApp by tapping on Menu (three dots icon) on the top right corner of the app and choosing Payments. Then select the ‘New Payment’ button and choose your Bank from the list. An SMS will be sent to verify your bank details and once done you can start using WhatsApp pay using your UPI PIN.
As of October 2021, the Indian payments app market is currently led by PhonePe which is holding a 45.2% market share followed by Google Pay at 35.42% and Paytm at 12.66%. WhatsApp is using cashback offers like this one to get popularity in the already crowded market and make users try their new service.
