Vi (formerly Vodafone Idea) yesterday silently joined the league of Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel kickstarting its VoWiFi calling service in select telecom circles across the country. Vi has joined the league quite late with Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel offering VoWiFi calling service across the country for quite some time now.
Vi has launched VoWiFi calling service initially in Kolkata and Maharashtra & Goa telecom circles since yesterday. The newly introduced service for the time being is limited to prepaid customers only with postpaid customers ineligible for the same currently.
The company is said to be working on improving the availability of its VoWiFi calling service asking customers to remain tuned to its social media pages for further updates. Vi WiFi calling service is likely to be expanded to postpaid customers at a later point in time.

Vi’s VoWiFi service is supported by 10 compatible handsets namely Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, POCO X3, One Plus Nord, One Plus 8T, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Mi 10, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi 8A Dual, Redmi Note 9, and Mi 10T.
A Vi prepaid user in Kolkata on Twitter shared screenshots of the Vi VoWiFi service working on his One Pluss 5T device after the company enabled it after his email asking for the activation of the feature on his Vi number.
VoWiFi calling allows one to remain always connected with extended Indoor coverage, better voice quality with no call drops at home or office while connected to WiFi, make calls anywhere as long as you have WiFi connectivity with no app required.
