Telecom service provider Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced a new service that allows customers to order a new SIM card and complete their KYC process online. Customers are no longer required to visit a Vi store and go through the physical KYC process to get the SIM. According to the company, the self-KYC process is based on the DoT mandated guidelines and lets customers get a new connection from anywhere and anytime with the convenience of SIM home delivery.
Customers can visit the Vi website and choose from a range of postpaid plans that offer unlimited data, calls, and entertainment benefits. They can also select a phone number of their choice and place the order. After that, they will be asked to verify their Aadhaar number on the UIDAI site and do a self-KYC process by taking a picture and recording a short video of themself. Once the self-KYC is complete, Vi will process the order and deliver the SIM card to the customer’s doorstep in a contactless manner.
“We have always gone the extra mile to bring innovative products and offer convenience to our customers helping them to get more and do more with Vi. Our Self-KYC solution is a Digital India initiative – one of many firsts that Vi has been bringing to simplify, enhance and enliven the lives of our valued customers,” said Abhijit Kishore, COO of Vodafone Idea Limited. “I am sure that users will now find a significant improvement in the ease of completing KYC process through our platform. While launching in Kolkata and Karnataka for postpaid users, we aim to roll out Vi Self-KYC solution across all markets soon for our customers to enjoy the benefits of our best-in-value prepaid and postpaid plans.”.
The Vi self-KYC process is currently available for all postpaid customers in Kolkata and Karnataka service areas. The company will gradually roll out the service to all postpaid and prepaid customers across India. With the self-KYC service, Vi aims to make customer onboarding more convenient, quick, and safe. Customers can enjoy the benefits of the Vi Giganet 4G network, which offers high-speed internet, high-quality video calls, and seamless streaming. Users can also access various OTT platforms, such as Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar Super, Sony Liv Premium, etc., based on their plan.
