Twitter has started to roll out the Twitter Blue subscription for users in India. Some users on Twitter have received prompts on the social media platform to upgrade their account to Twitter Blue. According to reports, the Twitter Blue subscription in India is expected to cost Rs. 719 per month. In contrast, the subscription costs USD 8 (around Rs. 650) per month in the United States.
Twitter Blue users will get a Blue Tick verification badge. According to a tweet by Elon Musk, Twitter Blue subscribers will also receive priority in replies, mentions & searches, the ability to post long videos & audio, and half as many ads. The company will also offer a paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with Twitter. Since, it will also provide Twitter with a revenue stream to reward content creators.
Twitter Blue will reportedly cost Rs. 719 per month in India, which is higher than the subscription price of the social media platform in the United States. Twitter Blue subscription is priced at USD 8 (around Rs. 650) per month in the US. Earlier, in a tweet, Elon Musk said that the Twitter Blue subscription price will be “adjusted by country proportionate to purchasing power parity.” However, the company is yet to reveal the pricing of the Twitter Blue subscription for the Indian market.
Twitter is also testing a new ‘Official’ badge for notable official accounts of organizations and public figures. Not all previously verified accounts will receive the ‘Official’ label, and the label is not available for purchase, said Twitter product manager Esther Crawford in a tweet. The ‘Official’ badge will help users to identify Twitter accounts that impersonate other notable accounts on the social media platform.
