Microblogging website Twitter, on Monday, relaunched the Twitter Blue subscription service and now requires users to verify their phone number to sign up for the service. According to a report by India Today, the Twitter Blue subscription is available in India for iOS users and is likely to cost Rs 999 per month for the subscription. Additionally, Twitter has launched a golden verification badge for organizations and official businesses to help users identify original accounts from impersonators.
Twitter Blue subscription in the United States costs USD 8 (around Rs. 661) per month on the web and USD 11 (around Rs. 910) per month on iOS devices. Reportedly, the Twitter Blue subscription in India will cost Rs 999 per month for iOS users. The subscription cost for Android and web users in India is likely to be cheaper. The company hasn’t officially confirmed the pricing of the Twitter Blue subscription in India, so the price might change in the future.
To recall, the Twitter Blue subscription in India for iOS users was priced at Rs. 719 per month. After the relaunch, the company has increased the subscription price for iOS users in India, probably to recoup the 30 percent commission rate that Apple charges to developers.
Additionally, Twitter is rolling out a golden verification badge for organizations and official businesses to help users identify original accounts from impersonators. The company will also roll out a grey verification badge for government accounts.
