Daniel Ek, the CEO of Spotify, has revealed that the popular music streaming platform is working on an innovative feature called “Your Offline Mix.” This new addition aims to enhance the offline music streaming experience for premium subscribers by offering a personalized mix of recently played songs, even when the device’s internet connection is weak or unavailable.
The screenshot shared by Daniel Ek on Twitter indicates that these playlists could span up to three hours in length. Additionally, the feature will function even when the device is in flight mode, making it accessible during air travel. It is expected to be available for both Android and iOS devices.
Unlike the current offline playlist feature, where users must manually download songs and podcasts, “Your Offline Mix” is designed to automatically generate a playlist based on the user’s recently streamed content. This feature is likely to remain exclusive to premium subscribers, offering them a more seamless and uninterrupted music experience.
Although an official release date has yet to be confirmed, the teaser provided by Spotify’s CEO suggests that users can expect this highly anticipated feature to arrive in the near future. Presently, if a Spotify user loses internet connection while playing music, the playback pauses until the connection is restored. The introduction of “Your Offline Mix” is expected to address this inconvenience, allowing users to continue enjoying their favorite songs and podcasts even when disconnected from the internet.
Spotify Premium, which is priced at Rs 117 per month, already offers an array of benefits, including ad-free music listening, group sessions, offline streaming, and the option to download up to 10,000 songs on five devices. In addition, Spotify offers a mini pack at Rs 7 per day and family plans, with two accounts priced at Rs 149 per month and a family plan for up to six people costing Rs 179 per month.
