Motorola on Monday launched the Moto G9 smartphone in India. It is the successor to the Moto G8 that debuted in Brazil earlier this year but was not introduced in India. Moto G9 is India’s first phone that will ship with the Snapdragon 662 chipset.
The handset features a 6.5-inch HD+ Max Vision TFT display with waterdrop notch having 720 x 1600 pixels resolution, tall 20:9 aspect ratio and 87 per cent screen-to-body ratio.
It is powered by a Snapdragon 662 processor that was launched in January 2020, paired with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB storage which can be further expanded up to 512GB using a microSD card. Moto G8 had a Snapdragon 665 SoC which may look like a downgrade because of the model number but G9’s SD 662 has the same CPU and GPU specs along with newer ISP.
This smartphone runs on Android 10 with Motorola’s My UX and delivers stock Android experience without any adware or bloatware. There is a dedicated button available for easy access to the Google assistant.
For photography, you get triple camera setup on the back consisting of a 48 MP primary sensor, a 2 MP macro lens, and a 2 MP depth sensor. On the front, an 8-megapixel camera sensor is provided to take selfies and video calling.
It is fueled by a massive 5,000mAh battery that supports 20W Turbo Power rapid charging and can last for up to 2 days on a single charge. A fingerprint scanner is mounted on the back under the logo of the company. The connectivity features available on the smartphone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, FM radio, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
