Microsoft, on Thursday, has unveiled the Surface Laptop Go, the company’s most affordable Surface laptop. The top of the Surface Laptop Go is made from aluminum, and the base is made from the polycarbonate composite resin system with glass fiber and 30 percent post-consumer recycled content. The company has also launched the Surface Pro X with a new configuration that includes the next-gen Microsoft SQ2 processor and now comes in Platinum color. The original Surface Pro X with the Microsoft SQ1 processor will still be available to purchase.
Surface Laptop Go specifications
Surface Laptop Go features a 12.4-inch PixelSense 3:2 aspect ratio touchscreen display with 1536 x 1024 resolution. The device is powered by a 10th Gen Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor paired with 4GB or 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and comes in three storage options, including 64GB eMMC, 128GB SSD, and 256GB SSD. It runs Windows 10 Home in S mode out of the box and also includes Microsoft 365 Family 30-day trial.
Surface Laptop Go comes with a 720P HD f2.0 front-facing camera and is equipped with dual far-field studio mics and omnisonic speakers with Dolby Audio technology. The device has firmware-based TPM for security and Windows Hello one-touch sign-in fingerprint Reader power button. However, the base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage configuration does not include the fingerprint power button.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6: 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.0, one USB Type-C port, one USB Type-A port, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and one Surface Connect port. Sensors onboard include an ambient light sensor. The device is said to deliver up to 13 hours of battery life on a single charge.
Surface Pro X specifications
Surface Pro X features a 13-inch PixelSense 3:2 aspect ratio touchscreen display with 2880 x 1920 resolution. The new Surface Pro X is powered by a Microsoft SQ2 processor paired with Adreno 690 GPU, 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM, and comes in 256GB or 512GB removable SSD options. It runs Windows 10 Home on ARM out of the box and includes Microsoft 365 Family 30-day trial.
Surface Pro X comes with a 10.0MP rear-facing autofocus camera with 1080p HD and 4k video recording capability. For making video calls, it has a 5.0MP Full-HD front-facing camera. The device is equipped with dual far-field studio mics and 2W stereo speakers with Dolby Audio sound. The device has firmware-based TPM for security and Windows Hello face sign-in option.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 5: 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, Qualcomm Snapdragon X24 LTE modem for 4G connectivity, GPS/ GLONASS, two USB Type-C port, one Surface Connect port, Surface Keyboard port, and one nano-SIM slot. Sensors included are gyroscope, magnetometer, ambient light, and accelerometer. The new Surface Pro X is touted to deliver 15 hours of battery life on a single charge.
Pricing and availability
Surface Laptop Go price starts at $549 (around Rs. 40,300) for the base 4GB RAM and 64GB storage configuration. The 8GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration cost $699 (around Rs. 51,300). The top variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at $899 (around Rs. 65,900). The device comes in Ice Blue, Sandstone, and Platinum color options.
The Surface Pro X with Microsoft SQ2 processor is priced at $1,499 (around Rs. 1,09,900) for the 256GB storage model, while the 512GB storage variant cost $1,799 (around Rs. 1,31,900). Surface Laptop Go and Surface Pro X are available to pre-order in the select markets via Microsoft website and will go on sale starting October 13.
Microsoft is also bringing Surface to consumers in eleven new European markets, including Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia.
Microsoft is yet to announce the availability of the Surface Laptop Go and the new Surface Pro X in other markets, including India.
