Telecom giant Reliance Jio today announced the launch of a new Rs 2399 annual plan with 2 GB/day high-speed data and 12000 off-net voice minutes. Alongside it also launched new Rs 151/201/251 Work From Home data packs. Jio has revamped the Rs 251 Work From Home pack to offer data without any daily data cap, earlier it used to provide the pack with a daily data cap and standalone validity.

Jio has introduced Rs 2399 Prepaid plan which has a validity of 365 days and provides 2 GB high-speed data per day. The prepaid plan also offers voice and SMS benefits. It offers unlimited on-net and landline calls, 12000 off-net calling minutes, 100 SMS/day, and complimentary access to Jio apps.

Jio states that the pack offers 33% more value over comparable annual validity plans by Airtel and Vodafone Idea. The point to be noted though is that even though the data being offered by Jio in this plan is more than the competitor networks, Airtel and Vodafone Idea offer truly unlimited calls whereas Jio has a capping of 12000 minutes for off-net calls.

Jio has also launched new Work From Home packs that be will co-terminus with the existing base plan’s validity. Rs 151, Rs 201, and Rs 251 Work From Home packs have been launched. Rs 151 Work From Home Pack offers 30 GB high-speed data whereas Rs 201 Work From Home Pack offers 40 GB high-speed data. Rs 251 Work From Home Pack offers 50 GB high-speed data.

Jio has revamped the existing Rs 251 Work From Home pack such that it now offers only 50 GB data instead of the earlier 102 GB and also needs a base plan whereas the earlier one had a standalone validity of 51 days. The plus side though is that unlike the previous plan this new one does not have a daily data cap of 2 GB/day. Jio notes that this data add-on pack is a must for all users as it can be used at any time of the month when the daily data runs out.

Jio had earlier rebranded its Jio Cricket Pack to Jio Work from Home Pack and increased the data offerings on its 4G Data Vouchers by 100% and bundled off-net calling minutes. It remains to be seen as to whether Airtel and Vodafone Idea will now respond to Reliance Jio’s move to outfox their current Rs 2399 prepaid plans and offer new work from home packs.
