Google Pixel 5

Google has launched the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G smartphones in a virtual event. Google Pixel 5 comes in Just Black and Sorta Sage color options, while the Pixel 4a 5G comes in Just Black and Clearly White color options. Both phones include a Titan M security module and runs Android 11 OS out of the box. Google has also promised a minimum of three years of OS and security updates.

Google Pixel 5 specifications

The Google Pixel 5 features a 6-inch Full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) Always-on OLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 90Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support. The display has Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G (1 x 2.4 GHz Kryo 475 Prime & 1 x 2.2 GHz Kryo 475 Gold & 6 x 1.8 GHz Kryo 475 Silver) chipset paired with Adreno 620 GPU, 8GB LPDDR4 RAM, and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage.

Google Pixel 5 sports a dual rear camera setup of a 12 MP f/1.7 primary sensor with dual pixel PDAF, optical + electronic image stabilization, and a 16 MP f/2.2 ultrawide angle lens with a 107-degree field of view. On the front, it has an 8 MP f/2.0 camera punched into the display. The rear cameras support Full-HD recording at 30/60/120/240fps and 4K recording at 30/60fps, while the front camera supports only Full-HD recording at 30fps.

Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 with A2DP/ LE/ aptX HD, 5G, 4G LTE, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 1 port. Sensors include a magnetometer, barometer, ambient light, accelerometer, proximity, gyroscope, and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. The phone comes with a 4080mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging technology and also supports reverse wireless charging. Google Pixel 5 measures 144.7 x 70.4 x 8.0mm and weighs 151 grams.

The Google Pixel 4a 5G features a 6.2-inch Full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) Always-on OLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and HDR support. The display has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC paired with Adreno 620 GPU, 6GB LPDDR4 RAM, and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage.

The phone is fueled by a 3885mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging technology. Google Pixel 4a 5G measures 153.9 x 74.0 x 8.2mm and weighs 168 grams.

Pricing and availability

Google Pixel 5 price starts at $699 (Rs. 51,400 approx.), and the Google Pixel 4a 5G price starts at $499 (Rs. 37,000 approx.). Both smartphones will be available only in the 5G markets, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Google Pixel 4a 5G will start to roll out in Japan starting October 15 and in other countries from November. Google Pixel 5 will be available from October 15 across nine countries.

Customers purchasing Google Pixel 5 or Pixel 4a 5G will get three months of Stadia Pro, YouTube Premium, Google One with 100GB of storage, and Google Play Pass. However, YouTube Premium and Play Pass offers do not apply to the current subscribers.
