The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) has allotted another new Mobile Switching Center (MSC) codes to India’s leading telecom service provider Reliance Jio for the Jammu and Kashmir service area to meet the demand of one million subscribers circle.
MSC codes are the first five numbers of your mobile phone number for which telecom operators apply to DoT for a new numbering series as and when the existing resources are insufficient to meet the increasing demand in a specific circle.
DoT has allotted 93200-93209 MSC code to Reliance Jio for Jammu and Kashmir circle on 14th August in consideration of the requests from the telecom operator. The above MSC code series was earlier allocated to Reliance Communications and Reliance Telecom which have suspended their wireless telecom operations with some of these numbers currently active on other operators’ networks through MNP.
Reliance Jio can use the MSC series except for the active subscribers of RCom and RTL and other port out subscribers with any number which becomes inactive in the future to be returned to the allottee of the said MSC series.
DoT recently approved few more MSC series for Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio for the circles of Maharashtra, Kerala, and North East.
