Disney announced the Indonesian launch of Disney+ Hotstar during the quarterly earnings call yesterday. The service is slated to launch on September 5th. Variety has learned that Indonesian media has received invitations for launch event on August 10.
“I’m happy to announce that we will also be rolling out Disney Plus Hotstar on September 5 in Indonesia, one of the world’s most populous countries. By year-end, Disney Plus will be available in nine of the top 10 economies in the world.”

Indonesia marks as the second market after India to get Disney+ Hotstar and third Asian market to get Disney Plus after India and Japan. Disney+ Hotstar is the streaming home of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars (Lucasfilm), National Geographic and Star India. More details regarding the service might be revealed at the launch event.
Disney+ reported 60.5 million subscribers out of which 15% attributes to Disney+ Hotstar in India. In other news Disney announced they are working on Star branded general entertainment streaming offering which is slated for launch internationally in 2021.

The platform is readily available to launch. And it will be attracting Indian dispora and the other reason they can have FX, Fox content on the service attracting the viewers preferring mature content instead of just pg-13 Disney content on the service. More Details will be announced as part of launch on 10th. We have to wait and see. They said they will be launching the service based on the market they are launching in.
