BBC Studios India entered regional space by producing Telugu language adaptation of BBC’s BATFA nominated One of Us for Disney+ Hotstar. No further details regarding cast and crew are announced. This marks the first Telugu language production for the streamer as well.
The four-part series originally written by Harry and Jack Williams (The Missing) for BBC One focuses on the mysterious murders of newly married couple’s childhood sweethearts who were found in their home soon after their honeymoon. The couple and their families are forced to search for the answers by unearthing consequences around them bringing ideas of loyalty and honesty into question.
BBC Studios India previously adapted popular BBC shows Criminal Justice, The Office and Out of Love (Doctor Foster) for Disney+ Hotstar’s Indian original content label “Hotstar Specials”. The studio also adapted reality shows like Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi (Tonight’s the Night) and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (Dancing with the Stars).
Disney+ Hotstar also developing two Tamil language original shows. Untitled thriller series by Venkat Prabhu (Biriyani, Mankatha) starring Kajal Agarwal and Vaibhav Reddy. The second titled “The November’s Story”, a crime drama starring Tamannah and helmed by debutant Ram Subramanian.
