Apart from IPL 2021, one of Disney+ Hotstar’s main programming highlights is Golden Globe winner and Oscar-nominated feature “Nomadland”. The film won Best Film and Best Director awards at Golden Globes and is also nominated for six Oscars Awards. The film also won both People’s Choice Award at TIFF and Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival. The film is directed by Chloé Zhao and stars Frances McDormand as the lead is headed to the platform on April 30 after a brief theatrical run starting April 2. Speaking of Oscars, the event will be streamed live and exclusive on the platform on April 26.
After a debacle that is Justice League, the creator of Buffy- The Vampire Slayer Joss Whedon created The Nevers for HBO. The series is described as a science fiction fantasy that follows a group of Victorian-era women who has unusual abilities. The series is set to premiere on April 12. Joining the roster of premieres are USA Network’s Queen of the South Season 05 on April 9, HBO’s Mare of Easttown and Epix’s Godfather of Harlem on April 19, and HBO’s A Black Lady’s Sketch Show on April 24.
From India, the streamer is set to premiere Abhishek Bachchan’s The Big Bull on April 8, a day before the commencement of the highly awaited 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. From National Geographic India, a clip-show hosted by Javeed Jaaferi called Animals Gone Wild streaming three episodes a week. Nat Geo also bringing Earth Moods on April 16 and Secrets of the Whales executive produced by James Cameron on April 22 coinciding Earth Day.
