Nvidia had been showing off Control at every opportunity it has had. It has also been detailing all the shiny ray tracing effects it can offer. Recently, Remedy Entertainment had revealed the system requirements to run the game. And boy, many wouldn’t like it, unless they can afford a new Graphics card for their PC, or with an eGPU for laptops.
The specifications are coming out of the game’s Epic Games Store page coupled with the help of a PC Gamer Article. Just to open the game, you’d need 8GB of RAM coupled with at least an Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 graphics card (GPU) and at least an Intel i5-7500 CPU. Mind that these are Desktop level specifications, so a laptop spec requirement would translate into either better or newer specifications of the hardware mentioned above. Moreover, to meet the recommended spec, you’d need to have an Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080Ti GPU. We do hope the target resolution for the recommended specification is at least 4K, because this would be a lot of money one would need to spend just to play a game at 1080p.
When it comes to running the game with ray tracing enabled, gamers are in luck as the minimum specification listed is RTX 2060 and RTX 2080 for the recommended specification at 16GB. Again, these are desktop level specifications, so laptop editions will need to have better specced ones.
UPDATE on 4th August: Remedy has now updated specifications on the Epic Games Store Page and has drastically reduced requirements. Old ones are striked down and new ones are written against it.

Given such insane specification requirements to run a game and push hardware limits, we would just hope the game has depth and content to it, as well as being glitch-free. So far, looking at the gameplay demo, we are heavily impressed, and we could finally have a game which could show why we need to have ray tracing enabled in games. Control is releasing on August 27th on PS4, Xbox One and Epic Games Store.
