I had promised this to my fans: Virender Sehwag
INDORE: Sunil Gavaskar's mantra was, "Give the first hour to the bowlers, the next five are yours." But Virender Sehwag has his own method. He is just an antithesis to the copybook style of cricket, the waiting game is not for him.

He likes to dominate from the start, in all forms of the game. And he has found outstanding success with his method - two triple centuries in Test matches, the only Indian to achieve that, and now a double century in ODIs too boot, not only emulating Sachin Tendulkar but also surpassing him. What more can you ask from a batsman?
Talking about his historic innings on Thursday, Sehwag said that he was patient to begin with although he still raced to his half-century in just 41 balls which already had four sixes and three fours. That for him was a patient start! His second fifth took only 28 balls (100 in 69 balls), the third fifty in 43 balls and the fourth in only 28 balls, with 200 coming in just 140 balls.
Such was his ferocious hitting that the ball disappeared into the stands every time he decided to lift it. He played strokes all around the park and there was hardly any green grass visible in his wagon-wheel.
It was a fare no cricket-lover who saw it at the ground or on the telly is likely to forget in a hurry. The fans must now be wondering if he will strike a second ODI double ton, aping his two triple hundreds in Test cricket.
