If some rural market with limit users has monster market share of particular service provider. No point of expanding there as rural India prefers freebies over quality. And since freebies have been limited. It would be difficult acquiring new customers.
its not like everyone just want freebies..i also come from Rural area..I dont wnt any free service..but all i want is only Gud service n affordable prices..I am using jio since last 3 years .. which is no more free..but I still have been using Continuselly ..Bcz JIO is still providing me Gud service that too In My budget..so i dont need any free offers.. Ppl dont need free ..they just want Value N affordable service..thats it..

That's not the case with most rural Indians. They say they want good service but goes for services which are cheapest in the market.

Most Jio phones were used by rural people, not the urban one. Jio phone has no cheap recharge or free service (Rs.99/- with 500 mb daily data).

It had ₹49 plan just last month. It increased and customers are now helpless. Those locked handsets are unethical. Where is TRAI? We are in the age where we will soon get port enabled dth. Here they are allowing carrier locked handsets. Where is customer's freedom? I am glad no one has introduced same.

USA, most developed country in the world with 5G still uses locked handsets by operators!

And what are the data rates there? Customers have to forcefully pay ridiculous high amount for calls and data to operators as their handsets are locked.

They are charged same tariff for locked and unlocked handsets (iphones and others)!

people having sympathy for AirTel.. need to read this Sunil mittal' s statement.. which clear shows that All they care for is just Money n High end Customers..they want all ppl to pay high. thats it..they will never care for low end users. or for even rural ppl
Now read this..

But it’s a matter of time? You are going down, they are going up.
We are not going down.

We mean in terms of subscriber market share?
Subscribers we can even reduce by 50 million more. That’s ok. We want revenue, and very high-end customers, well-paying customers. People who buy Netflix, or Amazon Prime. Our purpose is to have a better offering in the market place.

After tough times, future is bright for India telcos, says Sunil Mittal
