Seems like Vi has launched Vi 5G in some cities according to this - Vi 5G Coverage Cities. Unsure if someone else (meeting the recharge or postpaid plan criteria) have managed to latch on to Vi 5G (if they are from those areas and have a Vi sim)
Checked Bengaluru in dairy circle. I’m not getting signal on my flip 4

Launch is limited to key areas within key areas as reported by the news outlets so maybe not everyone will get to enjoy! Moreover there is some binding of recharge to use this 5G or so.

When we thought 2GB/day mandate of Airtel and Jio for 5G as insane, here comes the VoId with 4GB/day mandate. WOW, just WOOOWWW. I really appreciate the confidence of their Marketing Team. But if only, their Upper Management has even 1% of that confidence on their own company, it will be good for everyone.

WRT Data services, thanks to competition from RAT team, RCom, Aircel, Tata Docomo, 2G / EDGE was super hit. It was cheap enough for that time (Rs98/9GB/28days by RAT and Rs98/3GB/28 days by AVoId Team). Similarly all thanks to the competition from the "NEW COMER" Jio, 4G / LTE services was also super duper hit. No doubt in that.

But 3G was a great FLOP show, again thanks to lack of competition and hence high prices (Rs498 initially by AVoId to Rs256 for SINGLE GB / 28 days by RAT, then followed by AVoId). Looks like History is going to repeat itself in 5G case as well, again thanks to lack of competition and high prices.

Big Telcos need to understand that, Market is NOT really having that much elasticity as they are thinking. You just can't jack the prices up and up higher and Customer will continue to pay. I can see many middle class people using Single SIM, where they used to have 4 to 6 numbers during Docomo days. The very few who are having 2 numbers, actually have a number provided by their company. They have closed connections for the Kids (bought during online classes days) and doing minimum recharge for their spouse and parents and at the max using Local BB.

Isn't the minimum 2GB/day requirement only for using Unlimited 5G? We can still use 5G on Jio & Airtel even if we are not on 2GB/day plan, just not unlimited.
