Either VoId must be using some wonderful technology, where their users with xiaomi 5G phones can use 5G data services even without 5G network --or-- VoId users with xiaomi 5G phones have their own responsibility to install 5G towers themselves for VoId to enjoy 5G services.

Jokes apart, this news is released by VoId, just to arrest the downfall of their share price (yesterday it fell below Rs6). Further Govt need not accept their stake till the share price reaches Rs10 (chances of that happening is slim, right now). Now Idea is trading in green, but still below Rs6 only.

I feel sorry for the retail investors who fall for these type of news.

Further Govt need not accept their stake till the share price reaches Rs10 (chances of that happening is slim, right now).

The government had earlier wanted to wait for the share price to touch Rs 10 but everyone knew that was never going to happen so then the government approved the conversion of the 16,133 Crore debt to equity on a Rs 10 face value (bearing a loss) which turned out to 33.44% stake. The government is already the largest passive stakeholder in the company but the administrative power lies in the hands of the two promoters only. So then deal has already been executed it's not tentative anymore.
