Source: Vi finally launched 5G in India: Key cities and plans revealed
Postpaid users already paying higher than prepaid counterpart still they restrict 5g to highest plan only. I have a feeling vi 5g end up like docomo and aircel 3g offer 5g to one or two areas in a state to satisfy the trai conditions

When we thought 2GB/day mandate of Airtel and Jio for 5G as insane, here comes the VoId with 4GB/day mandate. WOW, just WOOOWWW. I really appreciate the confidence of their Marketing Team. But if only, their Upper Management has even 1% of that confidence on their own company, it will be good for everyone.

WRT Data services, thanks to competition from RAT team, RCom, Aircel, Tata Docomo, 2G / EDGE was super hit. It was cheap enough for that time (Rs98/9GB/28days by RAT and Rs98/3GB/28 days by AVoId Team). Similarly all thanks to the competition from the "NEW COMER" Jio, 4G / LTE services was also super duper hit. No doubt in that.

But 3G was a great FLOP show, again thanks to lack of competition and hence high prices (Rs498 initially by AVoId to Rs256 for SINGLE GB / 28 days by RAT, then followed by AVoId). Looks like History is going to repeat itself in 5G case as well, again thanks to lack of competition and high prices.

Big Telcos need to understand that, Market is NOT really having that much elasticity as they are thinking. You just can't jack the prices up and up higher and Customer will continue to pay. I can see many middle class people using Single SIM, where they used to have 4 to 6 numbers during Docomo days. The very few who are having 2 numbers, actually have a number provided by their company. They have closed connections for the Kids (bought during online classes days) and doing minimum recharge for their spouse and parents and at the max using Local BB.
That's where BSNL comes into picture. We are into this mess for using Airtel and Jio as much as we can. Now, We need to use BSNL as much as possible, if coverage is good in your area.

I m pune still i m not get 5 g in hadapsar area its most crowded area and popular place c in pune but still vi 4g
You will get 5G only if you have recharge of 475 and above. And not every part of Hadapsar has 5G. And 5G is on 2.6Ghz and not on N78. Keep that in mind. Even if you latch, it's of no use as bandwidth is just 20Mhz and not 50Mhz as that of N78.

Got to do more tests on Vi MEGAnet 5G today on their only 5G tower in Karnataka. (Yes, only one tower in entire circle, at the time of writing.)

As usual, speeds are capped to 20-30 Mbps range. They better rebrand to 'MEGAnet 5G' at this point. 'GIGAnet' is an insult to vodafone.
To add to the pain, total 500 MB gone from available data quota. These clowns 🤡 are not giving unlimited 5G even during their trial phase.

Checked Bengaluru in dairy circle. I’m not getting signal on my flip 4
@Sparker0i See my comment in above quoted thread. Not getting more than 30 Mbps at Dairy Circle.

Maybe because they are capping speeds because I'm on ₹299 prepaid.

"The future is exciting, ready? (to shell out ₹475)"

Vi is not investing serious in the HP. the signal is very low and official vi store's are very less. The company are selling vi's sim with third party's dealers.

5G is currently based on 2.6Ghz or 2500Mhz which is present on LTE stuff already. It's DSS. Some users are getting latches on to 4G, some on 5G. That's why you will get less speeds. But DoT has released another 20Mhz of 2500Mhz for telecom usage, so that Vi will have contiguous block of 40Mhz 2500Mhz. Vi might buy that in future auctions. Also, that's the reason Vi only bought 50Mhz of N78 for 5G. From current subscription point of view, Vi 4G traffic can be handled by 1+3+8 combo, which gives 100Mbps easily in any circle if backhaul is great. That's enough for unlimited data for 12 hours.

Isn't the minimum 2GB/day requirement only for using Unlimited 5G? We can still use 5G on Jio & Airtel even if we are not on 2GB/day plan, just not unlimited.
Yes, I was talking about UL 5G. Without UL 5G, even the 1.5GB limit will never be enough for a couple of speed-tests (on 5G network). Without UL data allowance or even higher limit like 10GB/day it is better to use the phone in 4G only mode. So I thought VoId also gives UL 5G for 4GB/day plans. Looks like, I was totally wrong about them.

So for VoId, recharging 4GB/day plans is JUST THE ENTRY TICKET to even latch onto their 5G network with the unicorn level of availability??? They are still not using n78 and just playing with 20MHz of n41 using DSS and want around Rs500/month for even accessing it ??? WOW... Are they that much stupid??

If I am not wrong, you are from Tamil Nadu circle with Moto and Pixel device. Tamil Nadu doesn't have band 41. So maybe you will have 5G on mentioned places on N78. I am not sure, whether 5G is limited or unlimited usage on Vi. Because at two locations in Mumbai and Pune, I am not able to latch 5G on top plans of Redex.

Whatever information I have got is from engineer who is working with Nokia in Mumbai. Vi has plan to give 5G services only for postpaid customers according to him. 500GB data on 5G per month along with night unlimited 4G. Let's see. They want to give 5G speeds around 250-300Mbps with limited data just like what Airtel Airfiber is doing. They have already demonstrated this with 90Mhz of 5G spectrum on N41-N78 CA combination in Delhi this year itself in mobile Congress.

Maybe, I am not sure. They haven't announced 5G plans yet. I don't know exactly. They just announced 4G upgraded plans just few days before and have launched 5G in next few days. Give them time. They are upgrading sites with backhaul. Atleast in my circle. From 40Mbps speed cap to no cap I guess. Not sure exactly what's going on. Vi has lowest backhaul in three operators and they are slowly upgrading it. You need 1Gbps backhaul for the kind of spectrum Vi has. So that's why it's just testing purpose and that's why only 20Mhz DSS.
