Twitter is known to show its support and join in celebrations through its emojis. Twitter makes it a point to create emojis for special occasions which are happening not only globally but nationally as well in India. The latest effort made by Twitter is on the occasion of Ganesh festival which will take place on Spetember 5. So now when people tweet using hashtags like #GaneshChaturthi, #HappyGaneshChaturthi or #Ganeshotsav, a Lord Ganesha emoji will be activated next to the hashtag. The emoji will go live on September 4 and will be active until September 15 which is the last day of 10-day festival, celebrated much across the country.

“We are launching a special Twitter emoji for Ganesh Chaturthi to delight our millions of Indian users celebrating this moment,” said Viral Jain, Head (Media partnerships), Twitter India, in a statement. During the festival, people on Twitter can share photos and videos of their favorite pandals, decorations, street processions, food and sweets and traditional clothes, among others. This isn’t the first time that Twitter has created emojis for events taking place in India. The most recent emoji that Twitter created for India was on International Yoga Day which was a Padmasana position.

Twitter also created an emoji the festival of lights Diwali. Twitter introduced the emoji with a message – “This year, we’re excited to celebrate the festival of lights with our first ever Diwali emoji! #HappyDiwali.” The emoji features a lit diya, and you can add it to your tweet by using the hashtag #HappyDiwali. Twitter also celebrated the 67th Republic Day in India with an emoji and also rolled out an emoji to support Narendra Modi’s Make in India initiative.
