Telcos have already increased their prices up to 50% then Why on earth COAI wants TRAI to set Floor Price ..so even after 50% hike these AVOID ppl ppl are not satisfied ..seriously Their greed has No END ..These ppl just want to loot poor- common ppl of india by any means ..like they had looted ppl before JIO ..neither avoid nor trai ..Cares for Common ppl interest ..all they care for how to make money form poor - common people as much as possible ..

In Floor Price regime, Data tariff per GB might be Rs.10 and Call rate as Rs.0.10 ps per min (irrespective of network).
So, we may get 10 GB of data and 1000 calling minutes for Rs.199.
This is my expectation.

If this comes true ..then we Will again go back in the era of 2G...current prices are already more than enough for these money minded telcos ..this idea of setting floor price is just extremely Ridiculous and biggest anti consumer move..

In the India region, the average monthly mobile data usage per smartphone has seen an extraordinary increase in recent years, becoming the highest in the world at 13.9 GB per month with a forecast of an increase to 24GB per month by 2025 as per Ericsson mobility report.

But if they set floor price for data now then Data usage will again reduce 5 times to 2-3GB per month like it was before JIO..n Will badly impact Current Data consumption N also on Growth of Digital india. As Each and every Mobile users in India still just can not have unlimited broadband connection at their Home.. first lets government make every home and towns in India Broadband connected then only let TRAI or telcos to set any floor prices or increase rates for mobile data.. but first please provide Fiber broadband connection to every household..

Then Why did same bodies allow AVOID to Loot common people with Their extremely HIGH VOICE N data Charges for so many years before JIO ....If Charging Extreme HIGH rates for VOICE n Data and Looting "AAM AADAMI" is Fair for AVOID then I see nothing wrong In JIO giving ppl free data n voice for more then 90 days. .

Completely agree with your point. In India, the Business model is clear.
1) Provide an offering of niche service, which is gullible to end-users (like 4G Internet, Cable TV, Dominos Pizza, Movie Multiplex, Starbucks Coffee, etc.) and price it ridiculously high.
2) People have a desire to take these to uplift their 'image' and to be the active and most lavish ones in society.
3) Effectively, it appears to be a "loot" but most people agree to get looted to maintain their 'image'
4) Some kind of disruptor enters the market:
- 4G Internet -> Jio
- Cable TV -> DTH
- Movie Multiplex -> Netflix / Amazon Prime
- an so on...
5) All these existing providers drop their prices to match the disruptor, suffer heavy 'losses', as they did not manage their profits properly while they were looting the end users. Probably the profits flew back to their Parent country (US / UK / China)
6) Now they cry foul over the disruptor and ask the Government to "save their company"

Are Movie Multiplexes next to bite the dust? People are moving away from mainstream cinema to much better Netflix Originals.

Lets wait and watch.

Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio have sought a floor for data tariffs, but don't want voice to be regulated.

On being asked his views on Trai’s point that it may be difficult to regulate only data rates, and not voice, and bring in a tariff ceiling to protect consumers, Sunil Mittal said, “They need to bring some sanity and orderliness in the telecom industry, so we are happy with whatever they decide”.

For Mobile Data, if TRAI will to set a floor price, it would need to give separate floor prices for data based on validity: Rs 5 per GB for data valid for 24 hours, Rs 10 per GB for data valid for 1 week, Rs 20 per GB when validity is 1 month, Rs 30 when it is 1 year and so on.

Because of this short validity, consumers on average use only around 15 GB of data per month, even though, on average, they get around 1.5 GB of data per day, or 45 GB per month. The remaining 30 GB is extinguished without being used. On the other hand, if the entire 45 GB of data were to be valid for one month, then consumption would have been around the 30 GB mark

For Voice Call, the cost of processing the calls on different technologies is widely different. While the cost of a voice call on 4G networks is very low, it is comparatively higher in the case of 2G and 3G networks. So, it becomes very difficult to arrive at a benchmark cost that is applicable across all technologies.
