DID YOU KNOW: Today, against Australia, Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga became the first bowler to take THREE hat-tricks in ODI Cricket. He previously had hat-tricks against Kenya and South Africa.

Only three bowlers have two hat-tricks in ODIs and they are Wasim Akram, Saqlain Mushtaq and Chaminda Vass.

Wasim Akram, however, has FOUR international hat-tricks; two in Tests and two in ODIs.

This is malinga's third hat-trick in one day international carrier.

DID YOU KNOW: In Test series played since 2000

- Shane Warne has most wickets, 40 against England in 2005, in 5-Test series

- Makhaya Nitini has most wickets, 29 against West Indies in 2003, in 4-Test series

DID YOU KNOW: India's 125 against Pakistan at Sharjah in 1985 is lowest total in ODIs [50-over Matches] which was "defended successfully" as Pakistan collapsed to 87 all out. Imran Khan took 6 wickets for 14 runs in that match which is, to date, best bowling performance in a losing cause.

There are some lower totals than 125, lowest being Pakistan's 87 against India in 1989 at Gujranwala, successfully defended in ODI Cricket but those were not 50-over matches.

TODAY IN WORLD CRICKET:
In 1971 India under Ajit Wadekar won its first ever cricket series (1-0) against England in England. The hero of the win was leg-spinner B.S. Chandrasekhar whose 6 for 38 in the third Test at The Oval, was declared the Best Bowling Performance of the Century by an Indian at the Wisden Awards in July 2002. It was Ganesh Chaturthi day and an elephant called Bella appeared on the field during the break.

One of the most beautiful Cricket stadiums in the world.

Its Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban, South Africa. Mainly its a football stadium, used in FIFA 2010, but an international cricket match has been played there.

DID YOU KNOW: Javed Miandad scored centuries in his 1st Test, 50th Test and 100th Test. It doesn't end here, interestingly, he also scored centuries in his 1st, 50th and 100th Test innings.

He, along with Herbert Sutcliffe, is the only batsman in world whose batting average never dropped below 50 in entire career. He ended up with Test career average of 52.57, the highest by Pakistan.

Miandad has also world record of scoring 9 consecutive fifties in ODIs.

Chester-le-Street is where 'God' scored his only ODI hundred in Eng against Eng in 2002. That game too was washed out. #cricket #trivia

On this day in 1985, Sri Lanka registered their first win in Test cricket. And it came against India. (Well, of course.) #cricket #trivia

It was on this day in 2005 that England drew a Test to end an 18-year famine for English cricket. #cricket #trivia
